There has been a lot of excitement recently over the band line-up for the 2009 Coca Cola Zero Fest, happening in April, both in Johannesburg and in Cape Town. Having run for several years now, organised by Big Concerts in association with 5FM, the festival has become widely known for importing big name international recording artists and placing them on stage. side by side with top of the line South African bands. According to Musical Mover and MyCoke, this year’s bill is set to include Oasis, Snow Patrol, PANIC! At The Disco and Bullet for my Valentine, as well as South African bands, Zebra and Giraffe and The Dirty Skirts.
More bands are said to be released within the next while. It would be great to see South African bands representing our nation on these stages in full force, in equal numbers to the international bands. We have so many talented bands, the list of South African bands eligable for the festival is so vast. 🙂
An interesting side note. The logo for the festival (featured above) reads interestingly. It could be read as that there is “Zero” festival. Has anyone else thought this when seeing the logo for the first time? 🙂

Here are a few links for more info on Coca Cola Zero Fest 2009. Some cool local social media connections made.

– Coca Cola Zero Fest on Zoopy.
– Coca Cola Zero Fest group on Blueworld.
The official website looks pretty cool. It’s a nice static content website. No major Flash usage (just a little bit at the beginning). While the code may not be up to current web standards, the overall final presentation looks great. 🙂 Does anyone know the agency that created the website?
Which South African bands would you like to see on the bill for Coca Cola Zero Fest 2009? Please share in the comments.
